Douglas D. Snyder, B.S., M.Div.
Wedding Officiant Guidelines:
What you can expect from me:
• Professionalism, and a free consultation
• I typically wear a tie and suit for each ceremony.
• I charge .50¢ a mile, if mileage exceeds 40 miles per trip, for the rehearsal and ceremony.
• I have no expectation of being invited to your wedding reception. This gives me more family time!
• Some couples like to interview several officiants. I allow 7 days from the date of the consultation for a decision. After the 7th day, I will no longer hold your wedding date on my calendar. If you choose to hire me sometime within the 7 days, I will send you an invoice.
• If you owe a balance for officiant services, I will send you an invoice 3 to 4 days prior to your ceremony. With the invoice, you can pay electronically. You can also make other arrangements for payment.
My expectations of you:
• Bring your marriage license to the rehearsal. If you don’t have a rehearsal scheduled with me, I will complete the license before your ceremony.
• Click Here for general license information. Obtain a license from the Clerk of Orphans’ Court Division within 2-4 weeks of your wedding date. You can go to any county clerk in Pennsylvania. It does not have to be in the same county as your occupancy or wedding venue.

• Once you have obtained your license, nothing else is required. I will send the necessary form to the courthouse where you’ve obtained your license. You should receive a certified copy of your license in a few weeks. This certified copy is required for a name change.
• A deposit, equal to 50% of the total cost, is needed to reserve your wedding date on my calendar. The balance is due on the day of the rehearsal, or on the day of the ceremony, if you do not have a rehearsal scheduled with me. Payment can be made by cash, check, money order, credit card, Apple pay, Venmo, or PayPal.
• I will look to the bride for all final decisions concerning your special day.
